Mother’s Day lunch at Veeraswamy

This weekend I took my mum and her sister to Veeraswamy for Mother’s Day lunch. It’s the UK’s oldest Indian restaurant, having opened in 1926, and was awarded a Michelin star this year. Despite its long tenure, I had never visited before although I’d heard from a couple of friends how good the food was, so I couldn’t wait to see for myself and hoped that my mum and aunty would approve (spoiler alert: they did)....

A pop-up in Old Street station got me very excited last week – the fabulous Shrimpy is back in my neck of the woods! Well, Old Street isn’t exactly my neck of the woods, but when I saw on their Instagram feed that Shrimpy was back on my side of the river, it didn’t seem to matter that I would have to hop on a tube to get my lunch....

Pancake day at My Old Dutch

We accidentally made pancakes a week early for pancake day, so we decided to go to My Old Dutch pancake house on the actual day. When we first arrived Mr M said, “I knew there’d be a queue, but I didn’t think it would be like this!” As it turned out, we would hear these words several times over from our fellow queue-ers as we waited to get in....
