This weekend I took my mum and her sister to Veeraswamy for Mother’s Day lunch. It’s the UK’s oldest Indian restaurant, having opened in 1926, and was awarded a Michelin star this year. Despite its long tenure, I had never visited before although I’d heard from a couple of friends how good the food was, so I couldn’t wait to see for myself and hoped that my mum and aunty would approve (spoiler alert: they did)....

One day last week I decided to take a cheeky afternoon off, so Mr M and I took ourselves off to Browns in Old Jewry for a leisurely lunch. Eating out in the evenings and at weekends is all well and good, but there’s always something extra special about time off during the week while everyone else is still at work....

I’ve been counting down to Saturday’s brunch at the fabulous Duck and Waffle since Monday morning, so it’s been a long week. By the time Saturday morning arrived I was nearly beside myself with excitement. This was Mr M’s first visit and also my first time as a group of two, so I was especially excited at the thought that we might get a window table....

A pop-up in Old Street station got me very excited last week – the fabulous Shrimpy is back in my neck of the woods! Well, Old Street isn’t exactly my neck of the woods, but when I saw on their Instagram feed that Shrimpy was back on my side of the river, it didn’t seem to matter that I would have to hop on a tube to get my lunch....

We accidentally made pancakes a week early for pancake day, so we decided to go to My Old Dutch pancake house on the actual day. When we first arrived Mr M said, “I knew there’d be a queue, but I didn’t think it would be like this!” As it turned out, we would hear these words several times over from our fellow queue-ers as we waited to get in....
